What is a digital stamp card?

A digital stamp card keeps the loyalty model customers already understand — buy a certain number of coffees, get one free — and moves the record-keeping off a paper card and onto a phone number. Instead of a staff member reaching for a hole punch or a rubber stamp, a customer scans a QR code and the system adds the stamp for them.

It is a different product to a loyalty app. There is no account to create and nothing to install — a digital stamp card built on QR check-in runs entirely in the phone's browser, so it keeps the low-friction feel of a paper card while removing everything that made paper cards annoying to run: lost cards, uncounted stamps, and cards that quietly expire in a wallet.

How our digital stamp card works

1

Customer scans the QR code

A printed QR code on the counter or a table talker opens a check-in page in the phone browser — no app to download.

2

First visit: name and mobile number

Takes about 30 seconds, once. Every visit after that, the phone number is recognised and check-in is a single tap.

3

A stamp is added automatically

Each check-in counts as a stamp toward the reward — ten visits for a free coffee by default, or whatever you set.

4

Staff confirm the reward

When the card is full, staff look the customer up and confirm the redemption at the counter. No redemption code to type, no screenshot to check.

Customers can only check in once every 12 hours per cafe, so a stamp always reflects a real visit. Set a reward reminder SMS, win-back messages, and Google review requests on top once you are on a plan that includes them — see pricing.

Why a digital stamp card beats a paper one

No lost cards, no fraud

A paper card left at home means a lost stamp — and a card can be forged, backdated, or stamped twice by mistake. A digital stamp card is tied to a phone number, so there is nothing to lose and nothing to fake.

You get customer data, not just stamps

Every check-in records a name and mobile number. A stack of punched paper cards tells you nothing about who your regulars are — a digital one gives you a customer list you can actually use.

Rewards track and redeem themselves

No manual tally, no guessing whether a card has nine stamps or ten. The system counts visits and flags the reward the moment a customer qualifies.

Nothing for the customer to install

It still feels like a stamp card — scan, check in, watch the count go up — it just lives on a phone number instead of a laminated card, with no app download standing in the way.

Not every digital stamp card works the same way

They all replace the paper card — but customers join each one differently.

App-based

The customer downloads a dedicated app to collect stamps — Stamp Me works this way. It gives a cafe a branded app presence, but it reintroduces the install step that app-based loyalty programs generally struggle with.

Wallet-based

The stamp card is added as a pass in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet — Loopy is one example. No app download, but it still asks the customer to add and keep a wallet pass, and it depends on the customer's phone supporting that wallet properly.

No-app QR check-in (ours)

Scan a QR code, check in through a web page, done. No app to install, no wallet pass to add — just a phone number the system remembers from one visit to the next.

Common questions

What is a digital stamp card?

A digital stamp card is the same buy-10-get-1 loyalty model as a paper punch card, but the stamps are recorded electronically against the customer instead of a physical card. With My Cafe Loyalty, a customer scans a QR code to check in and a stamp is added automatically — no card to carry, stamp, or lose.

Do I need an app for a digital stamp card?

Not with My Cafe Loyalty. Customers scan a QR code and check in through a web page in their phone browser — no app to download. Some digital stamp card products do require customers to install an app to join (Stamp Me is one example); others use Apple Wallet or Google Wallet passes instead of an app (Loopy is one example). A no-app, no-wallet QR check-in has the lowest barrier of the three, since there is nothing to install or add before a customer can start earning stamps.

How does a customer earn a stamp?

They scan the QR code and check in. On their first visit they enter their name and mobile number, which takes about 30 seconds; every visit after that, their number is recognised and checking in is a single tap. Each check-in counts as a stamp toward the reward.

How do customers redeem a reward on a digital stamp card?

When a customer reaches the stamp goal, staff look up their number at the counter and confirm the redemption. There is no redemption code for the customer to enter and nothing for them to show on screen — staff verification happens on the dashboard.

How many stamps until a reward?

Ten visits for a free reward by default, which matches the classic paper punch card. The threshold is configurable, so a cafe can set it to any number of stamps that suits their margins.

How much does a digital stamp card cost?

My Cafe Loyalty plans start at $49/month, with a 30-day free trial and no limit on customer numbers. There is no per-card cost and nothing to print beyond the one QR code. See pricing.
